Need to Relax? Learn to Meditate – Can’t Find the Time? Here’s an Idea

I’ve found the perfect solution to combat all of the gloom and doom out there. Turn off the news and meditate! If there was ever a time to learn to meditate, it’s now. Our senses are assaulted in our new technological age.

Here’s a perfect example. I just took a trip to Dallas. Sitting in the airport, I was amazed at the amount of pure noise going on around me. One of the twenty-four hour news channels was blaring (so much for turning off the news), the windows were vibrating from the sound of the jet engines, people all around me were talking on cell phones and the loud speaker was announcing various boarding instructions. All this was happening as I was trying to concentrate writing an article on my laptop. Can you say sensory overload? Fortunately for me, I have been practicing meditation now for quite some time.

THE FREEDOM TO EAT – BOOK

The Freedom to Eat means being free from the struggle to maintain a healthy weight once and for all. It means being able to eat and not starve. It means being free from negative thoughts and low self-esteem. It means feeling whole and completely loved. It means living the life that you were meant to live filled with joy and purpose. It is having the freedom to transform your life. For over four decades I let food and negative thoughts control my life. I was a walking talking calorie counter. If I’d had the opportunity to be on Jeopardy and there was a category on food and their caloric/fat and carbohydrate contents, I would have won a fortune! I tried every diet and diet program available, spending thousands of dollars – never keeping the weight off. If I totaled the amount of times I lost between ten to twenty pounds it would have added up to 1,247 – the same pounds! Those days are over. For seven years, I have had The Freedom to Eat. Gone are the days of obsessing about my weight and how I look. I am truly free. The problem with dieting is that the reasons for why we gained weight to begin with are never addressed. It isn’t a magic formula of too many calories in and not enough calories burned. In fact, eating too little calories puts the body into starvation mode. You will gain weight by eating less! For me, weight issues were never addressed from a perspective of wholeness. Meaning, we are made up of a mind, body and spirit. These areas have to be in balance. Our spirits are the essence of who we are. – I was lost. – Many of us have buried our hearts and souls under pounds of weight, busyness and denial. We have literally stuffed the voices of our hearts trying to cry out to us until we have silenced them completely. We have become people whose images were formed through societal pressure, family and a myriad of other labels. The result is a life of suffering and chasing elusive happiness. If we would listen, all of the answers are within us. I am on a mission to help reclaim hearts and souls. Happy New Year! – It’s Never Too Late!

I have to say that I don’t remember a year that so many people were so happy that it was over like 2008! Here we are looking at a brand new year before us. Ever since I hit the half century mark, I have to admit that I am living my life with a little more sense of urgency. There are so many dreams that I want to fulfill.

If I start to get a little impatient all I have to do is think of my mother – she turns 89 this month.

Don’t lose your joy this holiday season.

“Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” It seems that the only time for stillness is sleeping, and many of us are not doing much of that lately! As I’m writing this entry, I am looking out of my office window at the first snow to fall confirming the start of the holiday season.

For true, lasting change, however, we must change within. A recent CNN poll reported that 8 out of 10 Americans are stressed out. The economy has certainly been the source of pain and stress.
