Every night I let our dog Loki out before we go to bed. The back yard is very dark.

I noticed when he would wander into the yard that a light would go on in our neighbor’s yard, obviously, a motion sensor.

Two substantial tree limbs had fallen into our yard after a storm. Our neighbor was out when I returned from walking Loki. I asked if he had a chain saw and showed him the damage.

Taking him into our yard, I mentioned the motion sensor. He told me it was there when they bought the house. It was solar powered.

He took me into his yard where I snapped a picture. I went to the hardware store and bought two.

I didn’t see any instructions except on the back of the package. It said it took 48 hours for the lights to fully charge.

I put each light between a set of fence boards on either side of the lawn.

After the 48 hours, I was excited to see the yard lit up at night when I let Loki out.

There was only a dull glow. No bright light.

With no instructions, what did I do? I looked for a YouTube video and found a review of the product.

The first thing the reviewer did was open the package and pulled out the instructions.

Instructions???

It turned out the instructions were sealed and buried at the bottom of the package so much so that I never saw them.

The first step was to set the lights in the sun for 48 hours. Check.

The second step? Flip the ON switch.

There was an ON switch? LOL

That night when Loki went into the yard, the yard was bathed in light. Yay!

God’s Instructions

The Bible has been called life’s instruction manual. But you don’t go to the Bible to learn about how to get solar lights to work, or how to make a patchwork quilt, or how to cook something delicious for dinner.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

You do go to the Bible to apply what God’s Word says. It’s why I include a verse every Monday for you to think about, meditate on, and apply it to your life.

While you may enjoy or relate to my experiences, you just can’t take my word for it, you need to examine what God has to say. ; )

On the YouTube front, I have several instructional videos with a few dog videos and even a blooper reel. It would bring me great joy if you’d check it out and subscribe.
